Here Comes the Video

Apple is including a built-in iSight camera in their new computers. These days, when Apple thinks its important, it's probably important. I just got an iSight and it does kind of get your wheels turnings in regards to the uses of real-time video chat or webcam-style video. This is in addition to the obviously growing utlization of online video e.g. vlogs and traditional tv-style content. If video conferencing was super-duper easy, we'd all do it. Thus, we will all do it. It's coming. Comb your hair.

i would love an iSight, and yet i'm not too keen on videoconferencing. most of the time i'd rather text IM.
strange, i know.

I think that the video conferencing would be a great idea, besides the fact that everyone would see my sexyness, it is just good to put a face to someone you are working on a project with.

You also get to see the expressions that they make when you throw ideas at them, instead of trying to decifer if you are going in the right direction with the project over the phone or IM.

Jason Kottke's Letter to Apple Support sums up my views nicely. (I bought an iBook about three weeks ago myself.)
