Twitter: Fad or Rad?
I heard about Twitter on Future Tense last week, but it kind of went in one ear and out the other. Surprising, since I'm a known social-networking whore. If you build it, I will sign up. Then my husband, Mr. Anti-Social Networking himself signed up for Twitter yesterday. So I had no choice.
Then the husband got me going on this rad Google mashup that scrolls around the world displaying the latest tweets. Mesmerizing. Just sit and watch the world tweet!
I tweet from an easy little (Mac) desktop app.
But, the question remains: What's the point? The NY Times is using this to "tweet" the latest headlines. But, is it just yet another distraction on top of my ever-refreshing inbox and IM? Dunno yet. Jury's still out.

Fun With IM Clients
I'm a big fan of Trillian on my work PC, but at home on my iMac I've been stuck running multiple chat clients. Until now.
My husband recently found Adium (with the Napoleon Dynamite sound set, of course) and can't stop raving about it. So, I downloaded it tonight, and indeed it's the Trillian of the Mac world. Me likey.
Now I can finally run a single IM client at home and at work. Flippin' sweet.

Trillian + Wikipedia + Search = Sweet!
The latest release of Trillian (which is an Instant Messaging client that allows you to run AIM, Yahoo!Messenger, ICQ, IRC and MSN Messenger from one app) has a new feature that underlines certain words as you chat.
When you roll over the underlined words, it gives you the wikipedia definition and a list of related URLS
If you click on the word, you can copy the definition and search the web (it automatically uses My Way which gives you a tabbed search page with Google (default), Yahoo!, Ask Jeeves and LookSmart results.
Sweeeeeeet.
